Research Interests

The atmosphere is a major component of the Earth system. The amounts and distributions of trace constituents (including gases and aerosols) in the atmosphere depend on a complex interacting chain of chemical, physical and biological processes. My goals are to provide an improved and quantitative understanding of some of the key processes that govern the atmospheric composition, with a focus on short-lived greenhouse gases (including e.g., ozone and methane) and aerosols. I develop and apply global models of atmospheric chemistry & transport and chemistry & climate that are constrained with a variety of observational data set taken from different platforms. These include for example observations from networks of air quality and atmospheric composition monitoring and from satellites.
