GPUs power near-global climate simulation at 1 km resolution

A new peer-reviewed paper is causing a stir in the climatology community. Entitled, Near-global climate simulation at 1 km resolution: establishing a performance baseline on 4888 GPUs with COSMO 5.0”, the paper by our C2SM community members Oliver Fuhrer, Tarun Chadha, Xavier Lapillonne, Daniel Lüthi, Carlos Osuna, Christoph Schär, Thomas Schulthess together with further colleagues has been published at Geoscientific Model Development Discussions and is now under review.
